Rwandair Passes IATA Safety Audit 2014

Rwandair has passed the initial IATA operation safety audit (IOSA) and it is now registered by this International Air Transport Association (IATA).

According to the RwandAir Chief executive officer Mr. John Mirembe, passing the IATA audit is very important for the sustainability of the airline as it is a mandatory requirement to get IATA registration, alliance memberships and code share agreements.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is a trade association of all airlines in the whole world. The Association supports different activities of airlines and aids formulate policies and standards of the airline industry. IATA has headquartered in Montreal, Canada with Executive Offices in Geneva, Switzerland

IOSA is system internationally recognized and accepted evaluation to assess the operational management and control systems of airline, which occurs every two years once the airline cleanly completes the first audit. IOSA was created by IATA, and it uses internationally recognized quality audit principles and is designed to conduct audits in a standardized and consistent manner.

The audit organization contracted by RwandAir for its initial audit was GHS Aviation Group. RwandAir has been successfully registered under the IATA – IOSA registry which is due to expire in June 2016; this follows the completion of the IOSA conducted on RwandAir operations system from 9th to 13th June 2014. This is a great achievement to RwandAir and is a great opportunity to increase the number of tourists into Rwanda.
