Detailed Itineraery

  • Day 1: Kampala – Ziwa Rhino – Murchison Falls National Park

Breakfast, transfer to Murchison Falls National Park through the famous Luwero triangle with a visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. Lunch in Masindi town, arrival and take a short hike to the “Top of the Falls”. Dinner and overnight at Paraa safari lodge, Murchison River Lodge, Pakuba safari lodge or Red chili Rest Camp.

  • Day 2: Morning Game Safari – Afternoon Boat Cruise to the bottom of the Falls

Breakfast; take on an early morning game safari on the northern bank of River Nile’s palm studded grassland that supports dense populations of game and birds. Return to the lodge for late lunch; relax as you wait for lunch. After lunch, take a boat cruise to encounter huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds. There is an interesting scenic hike from the bottom to the top of the falls offered on request. Retire for dinner and overnight at your lodge as on day one.

  • Day 3: Drive to the Crater Lake Region of Fort portal

Breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive southward down the western edge of Uganda through winding agricultural lands. Proceed and enter the beautiful crater-lake region of Fort portal located underneath the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains where you will spend the night. Accommodation options here include Kyaninga Lodge, Chimpanzee Guest House, Kibale Forest Camp, Primates Lodge Kibale, Isunga Lodge among others.

  • Day 4: Chimps Tracking or Habituation Experience

Early morning, report for briefing for the do’s and don’ts while with the chimps, Set out into the forest to track our closest living relatives the endangered chimpanzee which trek may also yield sighting of other primates. Break off for lunch. After lunch, enjoy a swamp walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary which is an eco-tourism site run by the local community. All proceedings from this activity go back to the community a conservation project worth supporting.

Chimpanzee tracking is just half day and only 1 hour with Chimpanzees. Chimpanzee habituation Experience, on the other hand, takes full day with Chimpanzees, right from the time Chimps get out of their nests (at 06:00hrs) until they get back to their nests in the evening at around 19:00hrs. Dinner and overnight as on day 3.

  • Day 5: Connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Afternoon boat trip

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park while enjoying the scenic view of the wonderful mountains of the moon, lunch and relax as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. Enjoy the boat cruise to have a clear view of the variety of water loving birds and animals like crocodiles, hippos, among others. Return to your lodge in the sunset for dinner and overnight; Mweya Safari Lodge, Katara Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, Buffalo Safari Resort or King Fisher Lodge.

  • Day 6: Morning Game safari, connect to Bwindi Forest N.P through Ishasha plain

Breakfast; enjoy early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. Expect to encounter lions, Elephants, Kobs, waterbuck, Zebra, Lion, Leopard, Buffaloes, Baboons, and several bird species among others, check out of your lodge with packed lunch and connect to Bwindi Forest National Park through Ishasha plain of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for tree climbing lions. Arrival at the home of mountain gorillas in the evening, relax as you wait for dinner and overnight at your lodge in Bwindi Forest.

  • Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Breakfast, report at to the park headquarters for a briefing about how to behave while with the gentle giants, thereafter, be led by the ranger guides into the impenetrable forest to start searching for the gorillas. Meet gorillas, enjoy their view for the maximum of one hour and take photographs. Return to your lodge for lunch, relax with entertainment from the local community as you wait for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 8: Scenic Viewing and boat cruise

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive leisurely to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi a young volcanic lake surrounded by intensively  cultivated terraced and is bilharzia free making it safe for swimming.
Upon arrival, check at your accommodation unit where you will spend the night. Enjoy a boat ride to some Islands on the lake. The boat ride will provide a clear view of a variety of bird species. Return for dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages/ Bird Nest Resort.

  • Day 9: Return to Kampala

After breakfast, drive back to the capital city of Uganda (Kampala), lunch en-route in Mbarara town, continue for another stopover at the Uganda Equator for photographs, continue with the journey to Kampala for dinner and overnight at your Hotel.
