Safari Overview: 10 Day Uganda Safari Adventure

Day 1:Kampala – Kibale N.P

Day 4: Game drive – Boat cruise

Day 5: Morning Game drive – Transfer to Bwindi Forest N.P

Day 6: Gorilla trek

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo N.P

Day 8: Game drive – transfer to Kampala

Day 9 : City tour or transfer to Jinja for white water rafting

Day 10: Transfer to Ngamba Island – View chimps – Departure

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast in Kampala early morning, you will be picked up by your guide who will transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park via Mubende. This is found in the Southwestern districts of Kibale and Kamwenge and Mubende districts. Continue in the afternoon where you will have a chance to view the striking panorama of the area. Enroute lunch in Fort portal, proceed to Kibale for check-in at your Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Primates Lodge, Kyaninga Lodge or Ndali Lodge, Kibale forest Lodge, Chimpanzee guest house.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Chimp-family-nyungwe-forestAfter breakfast, you will set out for chimp tracking within the Kibale Forest. During your search, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, monkeys and other animals like the forest elephants, buffaloes, leopards, bush pig and duiker, lions, warthogs, reptiles, and amphibians as well as a colorful variety of butterflies. Return to the Lodge for lunch. After lunch, we go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area and look out for most of the water-loving bird species. The forest /Park has almost 335 species of birds and therefore a good place for birders. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Community Tour, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, tour around Fort Portal town, we can visit some local schools / Hospitals, “Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru” caves, Tooro Kings Palace, Karambi tombs and share stories about this area, early lunch and head out to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is the second-largest Park in Uganda. En-route you will be rewarded with a game drive which will give you clear views of animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas and a variety of antelopes. Check-in into your lodge, relax on the pool side as we wait for dinner and overnight; Mweya safari lodge/Katara Lodge/Park View Safari Lodge.

Day 4: Game Safari and Launch cruise

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will set out for the game safari in search of early risers in the Kasenyi area. The park has a diverse eco-system of grassy plains, rivers, crater lakes, forests, swamps, and lakes. These are home to various types of wildlife and a game drive in Queen Elizabeth will reward you with views of animals such as lions, leopards, forest hogs, buffalos, elephants, waterbuck, Uganda Kob and other types of antelopes.

Return to your Lodge for lunch and after, go for a 3 hours launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers a good platform for photography, bird watching, and game viewing. Dinner and overnight stay as on DAY 3.

Day 5: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

This morning you will set out for the game drive in the Ishasha area and expect to see the rare tree-climbing lions. The lions can be seen up on the fig trees. However, it’s not a guarantee that the lions will be seen. Some times it depends on the luck and time of reaching the area.

You will have lunch in the Ishasha sector and after you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park in preparation for your next day Gorilla trek. Dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany Springs Lodge / Gorilla Mist Camp / Ruhija Gorilla Lodge / Trackers Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi forest Park

Gorilla-Bwindi-Impenetrable-forestEarly in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the UWA officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This is a once life time experience and unforgettable adventure. The ranger guides will lead you into the thick forest and start your search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas.

You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about1hour. The activity can take 6-7 hours since the gorillas move up and down. This is an awe some and exciting moment.  Enroute there are some chimpanzees and other types of primates such as monkeys, birds and so more. Return for dinner and over night stay as on DAY 5.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Very early in the morning, you will take your breakfast and then drive to Lake Mburo National Park.  Have Lunch in Mbarara town and after you will enter the Park with a game drive en-route which will enable you to see animals like zebras, topes, elands, impalas, buffaloes and antelopes.  Dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Lodge/Mantana luxury tented for Luxury or Arcadia cottages for mid range or Rwonyo campsite for Budget.

Day 8: Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala

Early morning, you will go for a game drive and search for early risers and all other animals that you missed out in the previous game drive. Return to the Lodge for refreshments and later transfer to Kampala with Lunch en-route. You will also make a stopover at the Equator at Kayabwe for water experiments and photographs, Royal drum Village at Mpambire for souvenirs. Proceed to Kampala in the evening. Drop off will be at your Hotel in Kampala.

Day 9: Kampala City Tour OR Jinja River Nile Water Rafting

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala,  will give you a chance to have a city tour to the famous Kasubi Tombs of the Kabaka kings, Uganda museum, Bahai temple and Namugongo Martyrs shrine where 22 Christian convicts were killed during the reign of Kabaka Mwanga II in 1886 (King of Buganda).

Alternatively, we can have full-day rafting on the mighty River Nile in Jinja, dinner, and overnight in Kampala.

Day 10: Half Day Ngamba Island Tour / Departure

Have your breakfast at the Hotel and depending on the time of departure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. If your departure flight is in the evening, we can go for a half-day tour to Ngamba Island, a Chimpanzee sanctuary in lake Victoria.
