Tour agencies sold Rwanda as a vacation destination

Rwanda tourism agencies have strengthened the Rwanda tourism sector to outsiders. This has been done to advertise the country’s tourist potential at a fair in Netherlands.  This was disclosed by one of the exhibitors, Evert Jacobs Manzi, of Access Safari— tour operators at the conclusion of a five-day Dutch fair in city of Utrecht on.

There were a number of tour operators who participated in the fair and these included Access Rwanda Safaris, Amahoro Tours, Sunrise Eco-tours, Mercator Assistance and so on.  In March 2013, the Rwandan Embassy in the Netherlands held a similar tourism promotion event at the Holland University, Diemen Campus in Amsterdam.

Rwandan tourism package consists of wonders such as the endangered mountain gorillas, Cultural tourism, volcano mountain climbing, Musanze Caves, Canopy walk, Kwiti Izina, trek to Dian Fossey grave as well as genocide memorial sites among others.  According to the Rwanda Development Board  Rwanda collected $142.5 million in tourism revenues and registered 664,729 visitors in the first semester of 2013.

This signified an increase of 11 percent and 14 percent respectively compared to the same period last year. “The increase in tourism revenues and visitor numbers are important in driving economic growth and generating prosperity for all Rwandans, “Rica Rwigamba, Head of Tourism and Conservation at Randa Development Board said.

“We are working to ensure visitors to Rwanda get value for money and unparalleled tourism experiences.  In addition, visitor safety and security in Rwanda’s parks and other tourist destinations continue to be a priority.” He added.
